The official online services of Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, used to check and pay home electricity and water bills, register a meter in a new tenant's name and get a clearance before leaving Kuwait.
About MEW e-Services
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) supplies electricity and water in Kuwait and bills each premises through its meters. Its e-services, also listed on the Kuwait government portal, include online bill payment, bill inquiries, registering a meter under a new customer name, de-registering a meter when you move out, and requesting a clearance (disclaimer) certificate. Bills can be paid on the MEW payment portal by logging in with a civil ID number and password, in the official MEW-PAY app for iOS and Android, or through the Sahel government app. The MEW-PAY app, in English and Arabic, also shows consumption and lets users submit meter readings.

How to Get Started
- Get your Kuwaiti civil ID first, since the account is linked to your civil ID number.
- Open the MEW website or download the MEW-PAY app and create an account.
- Add your premises or meter, check the outstanding amount and pay online.
- When you move out or leave Kuwait, clear the balance and request the clearance certificate.
Since 1 September 2023 expatriates have been required to clear their electricity and water bills before leaving Kuwait, and payment is also possible at the MEW customer service office in Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport. In many rented flats the meter and bill stay in the landlord's name, so agree in the lease who pays. App users have reported that payments can take up to a day to show, so keep your receipt.
