About Smart Axiata

Smart Axiata launched as Smart Mobile in Phnom Penh in February 2009 and merged in 2013 with Hello Axiata, becoming a subsidiary majority-owned (72.48%) by Malaysia's Axiata Group, one of Asia's largest telecom groups - while remaining headquartered and run out of Phnom Penh. Smart introduced Cambodia's first 4G LTE service in 2014, launched the country's first commercial 5G network on January 1, 2026, and today serves more than 8 million subscribers, supporting an estimated 51,700 jobs across the country.
