About Talabat
Talabat ("orders" in Arabic) was founded in Kuwait in 2004 by four students, modeled on an Egyptian food-ordering service, making it the country of origin for what became the Gulf's leading food-delivery platform. Germany's Delivery Hero acquired the company in 2016, and Talabat now operates across Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, offering not just restaurant delivery but also Talabat Mart, its own network of delivery-only supermarkets. In July 2026, Uber announced an agreement to acquire Delivery Hero (including talabat's Gulf operations) for roughly $14.8 billion; the deal had not yet closed as of this writing.
