About Talabat

Talabat ("orders" in Arabic) was founded in Kuwait in 2004 by four students, modeled on an Egyptian food-ordering service, and grew into the Gulf's leading food-delivery platform before being acquired by Germany's Delivery Hero in 2016. It now operates across Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, offering not just restaurant delivery but also Talabat Mart, its own network of delivery-only supermarkets. In July 2026, Uber announced an agreement to acquire Delivery Hero (including talabat's Gulf operations) for roughly $14.8 billion; the deal had not yet closed as of this writing.
