LankaQR
Sri Lanka's national standardized QR payment system, letting users pay via QR code across participating banks and wallets. About LankaQR: LankaQR is a Central Bank of Sri Lanka-backed initiative creating a common QR payment standard, letting customers of different banks and digital wallets pay merchants using the same QR code system regardless of which bank app they use. Key Features: Bank-Agnostic Standard: Works across multiple participating banks and digital wallet apps rather than being tied to one provider. Wide Merchant Acceptance: Increasingly accepted across retailers, restaurants and services throughout Sri Lanka. No Extra App Needed: Existing banking or wallet apps that support LankaQR can be used to scan and pay. Government-Backed Standard: Backed by the Central Bank, aimed at reducing cash dependency nationally. How to Get Started: Check whether your existing bank or wallet app supports LankaQR payments. At a participating merchant, open your banking or wallet app's QR scanner. Scan the merchant's LankaQR code and confirm the payment amount. Complete the payment through your app's standard authentication process. Important Notice: LankaQR itself is a payment standard rather than a standalone app — you'll use it through your existing bank or wallet app that has adopted the LankaQR system.
FriMi
A digital banking app from NDB Bank offering full banking services and payments without a traditional branch visit. About FriMi: FriMi is a digital-first banking service from NDB Bank, letting users open an account, make payments and transfer money entirely through a mobile app, without necessarily needing to visit a physical branch. Key Features: Fully Digital Account Opening: Open a bank account directly through the app in many cases, without a branch visit. QR and Card Payments: Pay at participating retailers via QR code or a linked virtual/physical card. P2P Transfers: Send money to other FriMi users or external bank accounts. Bill Payment Integration: Pay utility bills, mobile top-ups and other recurring payments within the app. How to Get Started: Download the FriMi app and begin the digital account opening process, which requires identity verification. Complete verification, which may include uploading identification documents. Link funding sources or receive your FriMi card for payments. Use the app for transfers, bill payments and everyday banking. Important Notice: Full account opening as a foreign national may still require in-person verification steps or valid Sri Lankan identification — check current requirements before assuming a fully remote setup is possible.
