Yemen · Public Transport & MapsMoovit
A global transit-planning app with limited formal coverage of Yemeni cities, more useful as a general trip planner than a live tracker given how informal urban transport is in Yemen.
What it helps with
- Planning a trip by public transportRoutes and transfers.
- Walking to the stopStep by step.
- Arrival timesWhere data exists.
About Moovit
Moovit is an international transit app (owned by Intel/Mobileye) offering route planning and live arrival estimates where data exists. Public transport in Yemeni cities is largely informal - shared taxis and minibuses rather than fixed-schedule bus networks - so Moovit's coverage is thinner than in cities with formally mapped transit systems, independent of any political or sanctions-related factor.
Key Features
- Multi-Modal Route Planning: Combines available route data and walking directions where information exists.
- Offline Maps: Download transit maps for use without an active internet connection.
- Works Globally: Same app and interface whether navigating a Yemeni city or another city abroad.
- Best Used as a Rough Guide: Coverage improves as more community or official data is contributed over time.
How to Get Started
- Download the Moovit app and allow location access, or manually set your city.
- Enter your starting point and destination to see any suggested routes.
- Compare route options where more than one is shown.
- Rely on local knowledge for shared taxis and minibuses, since these often aren't fully mapped.
Before you use it
- Limits: Coverage here is patchy: minibuses and informal routes are often missing, so confirm the route with locals.
- Good to know: Live arrival times appear only where the operator shares data; elsewhere times are timetable estimates.
