About Moovit

Moovit is an international transit app (owned by Intel/Mobileye) offering route planning and, where data exists, live arrival estimates for public transport. Its coverage inside Syria is thin compared to cities with well-mapped formal transit systems, reflecting years of disrupted infrastructure and limited open transit data rather than any sanctions-related blocking - the app itself works fine from a Syrian connection.

Key Features

Multi-Modal Route Planning: Combines available bus and walking directions into one suggested route where data exists.
Offline Maps: Download transit maps for use without an active internet connection.
Works Globally: Same app and interface whether navigating Damascus or another city abroad.
Improves Over Time: Coverage depends on community and official data contributions, so it can improve as more is added.

How to Get Started

Download the Moovit app and allow location access, or manually set your city.
Enter your starting point and destination to see any suggested routes.
Compare route options by time and walking distance where more than one is shown.
Fall back on local knowledge or a taxi/ride app where Moovit's data is too sparse.

Before you use it

Limits: Coverage here is patchy: minibuses and informal routes are often missing, so confirm the route with locals.
Good to know: Live arrival times appear only where the operator shares data; elsewhere times are timetable estimates.
