About Raajje Transport Link (RTL)

Raajje Transport Link (RTL) is the brand under which the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) runs public ferries and buses. It includes the Malé region ferries to Villimalé, Hulhumalé, Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu, high-speed ferries that connect islands and atolls in several zones, and buses in Malé, Addu and Fuvahmulah. Tickets can be bought in the RTL app and on rtl.mv, and in the Malé region you can also pay with a QR paper ticket or a contactless card at the terminal.

Key Features

  • Malé Region Ferries: Frequent ferries between Malé, Villimalé, Hulhumalé, Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu.
  • Inter-Atoll Ferries: High-speed public ferries that link islands within and between atolls, in several zones.
  • App and Website Tickets: Buy and manage tickets in the RTL app or on rtl.mv, and see the schedule.
  • Buses: Public buses in Malé, Addu and Fuvahmulah are also on the app.

How to Get Started

  1. Install the RTL app, or open rtl.mv, and look at the schedule for your route.
  2. Buy a ticket in the app, or at the ferry terminal for the Malé region.
  3. Arrive early at the right terminal and scan the ticket at the validating machine.
  4. Keep your ticket for the whole journey.
⚠️ Important Notice

Online booking covers some zones and not all, and the southern network has its own schedule at stl.mtcc.mv. Many public inter-island ferries do not run on Fridays, and schedules change with weather and demand, so always check the current timetable. Public ferries are slow and far cheaper than speedboats, so allow plenty of time, especially before a flight.
