About TaxRIS (Tax Department, Ministry of Finance)

TaxRIS, the Tax Revenue Information System, is the tax administration system of the Tax Department of the Lao Ministry of Finance. The ministry began using it on 5 November 2018 at the Tax Department and at tax offices in Vientiane Capital, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Savannakhet and Champasack, and taxpayers can file tax returns through the TaxRIS website at taxservice.mof.gov.la. In March 2026 the Tax Department ran new TaxRIS training, and recent upgrades cover declaration and payment, amended declarations and VAT notices.

  4. Submit your return and keep the confirmation, and contact your tax office if anything is unclear.
⚠️ Important Notice

TaxRIS is for registered taxpayers, so you need a taxpayer registration before you can use it, and the interface may be mainly in Lao. Many employees have income tax handled by their employer, so check with your employer or an accountant first. Tax rules and procedures change, so confirm current requirements with the Tax Department, which lists the phone numbers 021-217025 and 021-242688.
