About Iran Post
Iran Post, officially the Post Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is the national postal operator and the main provider of mail and parcel services across the country, with post offices in all 31 provinces. It handles standard and registered mail, express mail (EMS) and parcel post, both inside Iran and abroad through Universal Postal Union cooperation with other national posts, and it also offers some financial postal services. International sanctions have limited its access to certain markets and financial systems.
Key Features
- Mail and Parcels: Standard mail, registered mail with tracking, EMS express and parcel post.
- Nationwide Network: Post offices across all provinces, including smaller towns.
- International Shipping: Mail and parcels abroad through national posts that cooperate with it.
- Tracking: Follow registered and EMS items by their tracking number at tracking.post.ir.
How to Get Started
- Choose a service: standard mail, registered mail, EMS or parcel post.
- Take the item, packed and addressed, to a post office, with your ID in case it is asked for.
- Fill in the customs declaration for international items and pay at the counter.
- Keep the receipt and the tracking number, and follow the item at tracking.post.ir.
Not every destination can be reached and delivery times vary a lot, from several days for EMS to several weeks for standard or registered mail, because of customs clearance and sanctions. Some goods are prohibited or restricted, so ask at the post office before you pack. Use cash, since international bank cards do not work in Iran, and expect Persian-language forms and signs.
