Afghanistan e-Visa
Afghanistan's first-ever online visa system, letting most nationalities apply for a tourist e-Visa without visiting an embassy — a genuine change from years of embassy-only processing. About Afghanistan e-Visa: Launched in March 2026 and operated on behalf of Afghanistan's General Consulate in Dubai, the eAfghans portal issues a single-entry tourist e-Visa entirely online, with approval typically arriving within a few hours to 24 hours by email as a PDF. It's the first time in the country's history that a legal entry visa has been obtainable without an in-person embassy visit. Key Features: Fully Online Application: Submit passport details, a photo, and payment without visiting a consulate. Fast Processing: Many applicants report approval within a few hours. Single-Entry Tourist Visa: Valid for a 30-day stay within a 3-month window from issuance. Broad Eligibility: Open to nearly all nationalities, with a short exceptions list. How to Get Started: Apply through the official eAfghans portal and select the tourist visa option. Upload your passport scan and a recent photo, and provide an address in Afghanistan. Pay the visa fee (government fee plus a smaller portal service fee) online. Download your approved e-Visa PDF and print it before travel. Important Notice: The e-Visa is currently accepted only for entry via Kabul International Airport, with land border crossings not yet clearly covered — and while the online application itself works, Afghanistan's internet has seen repeated nationwide and regional shutdowns ordered by the authorities, so don't leave your application to the last minute in case connectivity is disrupted when you need it.
